Watching movies outdoor with Hong Kong・s metropolitan skyline as the background may be a good relaxation.

The opening of the city・s first drive-in at Tsim Sha Tsui in January has made the opportunity available.

Moviegoers can drive their cars in and enjoy films projected on the huge screen tower, which is the largest outdoor screen in Hong Kong in the size of 25 metres by 14 metres.

The 18,580-square-metre space, with two movie houses, can hold up to 100 vehicles.

The cinema targets not only car owners, but also groups of four to six, which can see a movie in the American-style antique cars provided by the cinema. VIP boxes are also available for walk-ins.

:I came here out of curiosity and it・s a brand new experience,; Louis Chan said, sitting in one of the antique cars. :But I heard that the view is better in the front row.;

People enjoy more freedom in their own space in the drive-in than in a conventional theatre.

Annie Cheng On-nai said she felt good in her car and could receive phone calls at anytime during the movie.

Fashion designer Tammy Chu, 27, said: :The biggest advantage is that I can smoke while watching the film. You can・t smoke in cinemas.;

It is also a new activity for families. Chan Tsz-ling who was with her husband and daughter said: :I can enjoy my privacy in the car with my family. My kid will not disturb others during the movie.;

The audience receive the film・s audio via a fixed radio frequency specifically for the car space. A snack kiosk with free delivery service is located in between the movie houses.

The person-in-charge of the Drive-in Theatre, Lo Kwan-ue, said people could order snacks by phone or text messaging.

Tickets cost HK$100 for a car space and entry of one person. A second person pays HK$50 while the third or more adds HK$40.Bookings can be made online at www.drivein.com.hk or by telephone: 3761 6677.
