`He has what I don't have.'

--Andrew & Peter Cheung

Andrew and Peter is the only group performing duets in the field of Hong Kong entertainment. In 1993, after graduating from the University of Waterloo in Canada, the Cheung brothers entered a singing contest organized by TVB and won the championship. Afterwards they signed a contract with a record coompany and started their singing career. Besides singing, they also compose songs. Recently, they stepped into the movie field and have been working behind the scenes.

N: Andrew Cheung
P: Peter Cheung

Q: Why did you two choose to sing a duet in the TVB contest?
N: To be outstanding because there were no groups or contestants performing duet.

Q: Did you two receive any training in singing before?
N: We learned how to sing opera and duet in the university as

we were members of the school choir. Q: Which type of songs do you like to perform more, opera or pop music?
N: I hope I can mix the two things together; that is, to add the ele- ments of classical music into pop music. Actually, I am doing this in our new album.

Q: Did you compose songs for other singers?
P: Yes, we usually composed na- ive songs.

Q: Why did you two enter the movie field?
P: Basically, we want to develop our potential in other fields. In fact, we have also done some sound mixing in movies and television series.

Q: Do you think singing will be your life career?
P: Yes, I hope but the career life of an artist is rather very short, so I think I will go to business when I am 30.

Q: What personality traits do you like most of each other?
N: He is active and always strives for the best in doing everything.
P: Patience. He never gives up whenever he has determined to do something.

Q: What do you dislike most of each other?
N: It is difficult to say because I have known him so well that I have accepted his every personality trait. May be it’s worst for him to put too much pressure on himself.
P: Yes, I agree we have accepted everything of each other. Sometimes, he is too lazy and does not try his best in working.
