{"id":18654,"date":"2021-03-17T23:37:55","date_gmt":"2021-03-17T15:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/varsity.com.cuhk.edu.hk\/?p=18654"},"modified":"2021-05-27T12:16:17","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T04:16:17","slug":"fitness-on-the-ropes-editors-note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/varsity.com.cuhk.edu.hk\/index.php\/2021\/03\/fitness-on-the-ropes-editors-note\/","title":{"rendered":"Fitness on the Ropes &#8211; Editor&#8217;s Note"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fitness industry has been suffering a sharp slump in&nbsp;business due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gym centres were closed for months to reduce infection risk that the government only allows them to reopen from February 18<sup>th<\/sup>, 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just when there is light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel, an outbreak at Ursus Fitness in Sai Ying Pun sends shock waves to the embattled fitness industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A total of 122 cases were related to the gym, according to a figure from the Centre for Health Protection as of March 15, the second-largest cluster outbreak in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many fitness coaches had no income when gym centres were\nclosed, as all classes were cancelled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But they still had to cover the rents and maintenance\nfees of their gym centres.&nbsp; Coaches and\nsportsmen trainers are disappointed by the government\u2019s response to their\nsufferings.
