It also seems the young people taking part in social \u00a0movements are getting younger.<\/p>\n<p>This issue of Periscope looks at several aspects of this phenomenon:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/varsity.com.cuhk.edu.hk\/?p=5645\">What are the factors that are leading to the greater participation of young people in social and political movements in Hong Kong and is the introduction of Liberal Studies as a compulsory subject one of them?<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/varsity.com.cuhk.edu.hk\/?p=5495\">Despite popular perceptions, not all young people getting involved in social movements and politics are radical or pan-democratic, some of them identify themselves as conservatives and pro-establishment. However, they too are becoming increasingly outspoken<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/varsity.com.cuhk.edu.hk\/?p=5490\">The greater participation of younger people in alumni groups has contributed to the emergence of new alumni movement whose members want a bigger say in school policies and are different in nature from traditional alumni associations<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems that more and more young people in Hong Kong are taking an active interest in social and political issues in Hong Kong, to the extent that they are participating.
