The political scene in Hong Kong has become more distinctive since the return of Hong Kong to Chinese rule. The voices of “support” and “opposition” are getting louder. On the one hand, the
Provisional Legislative Council did “necessary things preparing for the restoration of Chinese rule”, as they claimed themselves.
On the other, the democratic camp, mainly composed of the ousted legislators, attempted to challenge it and fight for more democracy in Hong Kong. Some voices said the PLC had run far more steps than it needed to. In the following article, Varsity tries to sort through several of the PLC-related controversies.
