Businesses in Tai O struggle to survive

Photos by Janice Cheung, Text by Label Lee:

Tai O once was a fishing village on Lantau Island. In the past, selling salted fish, dried shrimps and handmade crafts were thriving businesses. In old huts built over the water, retired people eke out a meagre living. However, due to the new airport project at Chek Lap Kok, Tai O, which has preserved the traditional life of Hong Kong people, has gradually declined in its natural beauty and tranquillity.
