Winter at the Beach

Photos and text by Cherry Lam

In early January, temperatures tend to hover around 20 degrees Celcius, there are no life guards at Shek O or Repulse Bay beaches. The changing rooms may be closed, but visitors can nevertheless enjoy themselves in the expanse of sand, sunshine, and relative tranquility. For people who lead stressful lives, beaches are places of relaxation-- and above all, places to enjoy alternative leisure in the winter months.
