Disgraced DJ pulls through dark days with family support

(continued from next page...)

Mr Leung had been chosen as the most popular DJ in Commercial Radio by young people aged between 16 and 24 in 2001 and one of the top 10 radio show hosts in Hong Kong .

¡§So what? These are just titles. I still have to work. My programmes still have to continue. And I still have to work hard, even harder than before,¡¨ he said.

He said he was easily affected by emotions and he hoped he could improve on that and be more professional in the future.

Mr Leung joined Commercial Radio as a part-timer when he was a journalism and communication student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong . ¡§It seemed to be cool to have a summer job as a DJ.¡¨ He said he did not seriously consider taking the radio show host job as a career at first. But he soon found it challenging and interesting when he learnt from experienced colleagues. He was more determined to become a DJ after that summer and has been staying in the entertainment industry since.

Mr Leung now also takes part in films, advertisements and television shows. He said he started starring in films three years ago because he wanted to raise his profile so as to attract audiences for his radio programmes. ¡§I would describe myself as falling in love with movies now,¡¨ he said.

On his future plan, Mr Leung said he wanted to get into the overseas markets such as Japan and the United States . He wants to do a radio show abroad, which will be relayed back to Hong Kong .

He said he hoped to continue to bring happiness to people through his entertainment work. ¡§I am not an educationist or a social leader. I just want to host my programmes so that the audience can spend their leisure time happily.¡¨
