Leslie Santos


Leslie George Santos, 27, who bears a Portuguese surname, was born in Hong Kong. Santos has a craze for football and has been playing the game since 13. With his extraordinary performance in the South China Football Team (youth section), he was selected as a regular football player for South China after his graduation from St. Joseph College.

Leslie was awarded Mr. Footballer in 1990 and 1991. He was also elected as the Coca-Cola Hong Kong Sports Star from 1990 to 1992. More proudly, he was the second runner-up of the Most Popular Football Star in the '80s. During pasttimes, Santos likes to engage in all kinds of sports.

Q: What makes you cry?

A: Nothing. I am a person who never cries.

Q: What do you despise most in others?

A: Furtiveness, cunning and dishon- esty.

Q: Who do you think is a true hero?

A: Sylvester Stallone.

Q: What do you consider as the most important thing in life?

A: Family.

Q: What do you always carry in the pocket?

A: Money.

Q: What is your current goal?

A: To do better in the coming games since I have just recovered from my last injury.

Q: How would you describe your- self?

A: I am a strange person, also very emotional.

Q: If you could be a movie charac- ter, who you would like to be?

A: Any character in Chiau Sing Chi's movies.

Q: What other job would you like to go for other than playing football ?

A: A doctors. Since I always get hurt in the matches , I know their job quite well. It requires special knowledge and is very challenging to me.

Q: What is your advice to young people nowadays?

A: Try to do more exercise and to broaden your horizons. It's a pity to see so many young peo ple commit suicide nowadays. I hope they can treasure their own lives since life is full of hopes.

Q: What do you consider as your greatest success in life?

A: To be quite an outstanding football player.
