Cloud Nine

Photos and text by Amy Or and Freda Lau

From time to time, one hears Hong Kong people praising sports for releasing their stress. But it is rare to find someone willing to set aside two full days just for sports.

Among the exceptions are parachutists. Every weekend, they gather at Shek Kong Station, full of adventure, to participate in this exciting sport. They say they can feel their hearts racing when they jump from a height of 3,500 feet, and they claim it is satisfying to float in the sky like a bird. This is probably the closest that human beings can come to "Cloud Nine", which is a feeling of euphoria or great bliss.
