It seems nowadays artists and singers are getting younger and younger. Some of them are even in their teenage years when releasing their first album or starring in their first movie. Many teenagers, who are even younger than the artists, look upon them as idols and role models. Some imitate the artist’s appearance. Some copy their behaviour. However, some “idols” are still at the age of imitating others and are not up to a moral standard as models. I am not saying that every artist should be a saints, but at least they should be aware of what they are doing, what they should do and that somebody is watching them, ready to copy them. Now people often talk about individualism and expressing their true self. Yes, we should not care what people say if we think we are right. But I am sure this does not mean acting recklessly and destructively. What the “idol” says or does directly influences the behaviour of teenagers. Has anybody thought about the ethical sense of artists so that our next generation will be inspired, or at least not be misguided? Name withheld by request |
