Many lives thrown away like rubbish

Photos and text by Chan Chi-ha & Anita Li
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals claims that more than 11,000 animals are abandoned each year in Hong Kong. Some of them are collected or rescued by inspectors. Others are surrendered by owners to the society. The lucky ones are taken care of by families, released or sent to the Conversation Department and Kadoorie Farm. The terminally ill, however, will be put to sleep.
