At the mention of “dormitory”, many people quickly think of the rape cases that have occurred recently on several university campuses. However, as a student who lives in a dormitory, I am more concerned about the hygiene of dormitories. These days, signs of rats are appearing everywhere. Notices have been put up by residents’ associations to warn dormmates not to leave leftover food in the pantry. Some dormmates have even put up paper barriers on their doors to prevent rats from entering. Yet, rats still find their way into our dormmates’ rooms. What’s more is that they bring with them other creatures like cockroaches and lizards. I wonder why the dormitory super-intendents, amid the growth in the numbers of rats, can do nothing to remedy it. After all, they are living under the same roof as we are. Or Bik Kwan Aberdeen |
